Really nice food for the money. Nice beer as well.Edit. Food seems to have taken a turn for the worse recently. Not very good the last time we ate there.
Good food and fast service. Nice atmosphere for drinking or dining. It has a car park with a good amount of space.
Nice pub can take dog in but the food we chose was average. The salad had but g chunks of onion in and was supposed to have butter but sqaush in it but you needed a magnifying glass to find it. My husband's burger was dry and the chips under done. The staff were lovely and the beer was good. Wouldn't eat there again.
Have been several times before great food and service. This time not so good. My wife had steak and ale pie, which had been cooked to death, mash pots where solid on the bottom third due to sitting on a heated surface indefinitely. My chicken and ham pie was very nice, chips average and peas dehydrated. Will go again to see if was a one off. Tall horse wine excellent. For the price everything should be fresh especially the veg.
I met several colleagues at the Black Dog for a quick bite to eat before going on to a meeting. They coped well with us all arriving at different times with only a little confusion with our orders. The food was served reasonably quickly and was good. The staff were friendly and helpful but not very efficient. The environment in the pub is not special.
